Stop Paying 20% Commission to OTAs. Get Homestay Software Built for Dev Bhoomi 2026.
You run a beautiful property in the hills, near a yoga ashram, or by a wildlife sanctuary. But OTAs take 20% of every booking. Your rates are same during Char Dham rush and empty monsoon. Guest details are scattered across WhatsApp chats. There is a better way.
Did you know? Tourism contributes 15% to Uttarakhand state GDP. The government has an official homestay registration scheme - but provides no management software. Registered homestays still lose Rs 40,000-2,00,000 yearly to OTA commissions.
Nainital, Mussoorie & Rishikesh Hosts: Do These Problems Ring True?
Most Uttarakhand homestay owners face these challenges daily. You are not alone.
Losing 15-25% to OTAs
Pilgrim-season bookings via OTA sites are taxed 15-25% in commission. On a Rs 2500/night Nainital or Rishikesh room, that is Rs 375-625 gone per night.
Rs 40,000+ lost annually
Manual booking chaos
Registers, WhatsApp groups, and Excel sheets. Double bookings during Char Dham season. Guest details scattered everywhere.
Hours wasted daily
Same rate all year round
Charging same in peak Char Dham season and empty monsoon. Missing premium pricing during yoga festivals, New Year, and snow season.
Rs 35,000+ revenue lost
No guest database
Cannot track returning pilgrims, yoga students, or wildlife enthusiasts. No way to send them offers for next visit.
Lost repeat bookings

Uttarakhand Homestay Registration & Riding the Char Dham Season
Uttarakhand Tourism registers hosts through the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Griha Awas (Homestay) Scheme, which since 2018 has been merged with the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Tourism Self-Employment Scheme and now runs online at vcsgscheme.uk.gov.in for permanent residents of the state. Beyond a registration certificate, the homestay track offers capital subsidy of up to 33% in hill districts and 25% in the plains, and the state already counts more than 5,000 registered homestays competing for the same guests. Registered hosts must keep proper guest records; MyHomestay.ai logs every booking, ID, and stay digitally so producing occupancy or guest-verification records for the district tourism office stays effortless as you scale.
Demand here swings with the mountains. The Char Dham yatra runs roughly 19 April to mid-November 2026 (Yamunotri and Gangotri open on Akshaya Tritiya, the shrines close near Diwali and Bhai Dooj), flooding Rishikesh and the Garhwal routes with pilgrims. Nainital and Mussoorie then peak again in the summer school holidays, Rishikesh adds a rafting and yoga crowd, and July-August monsoon landslides trigger sudden cancellations. OTAs charge 15-25% through all of it. Direct booking with season-aware pricing lets you lift rates for yatra and summer peaks, collect advances, and protect margins when the weather does not cooperate.
Scaling Homestay Businesses in the Dev Bhoomi Hills
Uttarakhand's 'Dev Bhoomi' is a hub for religious pilgrimage, yoga retreats, and wildlife enthusiasts. Whether you are managing a cozy homestay in Nainital or a riverside yoga center in Rishikesh, the challenge remains the same: capturing the Char Dham rush while maintaining occupancy during the monsoons. Our software is designed for the rugged terrain and varying internet connectivity of the Himalayas, empowering local families to professionalize their hospitality business without losing profits to expensive third-party platforms.
